What is the history of the last wolf in Ireland in 1786?

For centuries, wolves flourished across Ireland to such an extent that early chroniclers often referred to the island as "Wolfland." The last wolf in Ireland was hunted down in 1786.

Where exactly was the last Irish wolf killed?

The last wolf was killed on the slopes of Mount Leinster, near the village of Myshall in County Carlow, along the border with County Wexford in south-eastern Ireland.

How does The Last Wolf brand honor Irish heritage from 1786?

The brand draws its name and identity directly from this historic milestone, treating 1786 not merely as an ending, but as a symbol of untamed wilderness and remembrance. The brand honours the memory of the last wolf and Ireland’s ancient landscape, celebrating native craftsmanship, natural resilience, and the lost wildlife that once defined the island's folklore.

What inspires the design of The Last Wolf watches?

The timepieces are inspired by the rugged, elemental geography of Mount Leinster where the last wolf was killed. The stainless steel cases engineered and designed to depict the geographical peaks and stone of Mount Leinster. Each watch also includes stone from Mount Leinster, so you truly are wearing Ireland on your wrist.

Is your clothing line inspired by traditional Irish style?

The apparel collection blends modern clothes with the last wolf brand, subtle and minimal design, with references to the last wolf, the rugged landscape, Ireland and ogham style inspired design.

What does the wolf symbolise in Irish culture and your brand?

Wolves were revered as noble protectors, symbols of untamed freedom, loyalty, and fierce spirit . For the brand, the wolf represents raw individuality, endurance against the odds, and a deep reverence for ancestral roots. The symbol is a modern take on the ogham style lettering and the raw stone and peaks of Mount Leinster.
